Back Pain Linked to Osteoporosis

Saturday, June 18th, 2011

Osteoporosis and back pain are linked, as the former affects the joints and the lumbar and thoracic regions. Symptoms include weakness, joint and back pain together with height loss, an unsteady gait, Kyphosis or Dowager?s hump etc. Metabolic bones are affected leading to dysfunction and climaxing with reduction of bone mass and increase in porosity.
The causes of Osteoporosis vary and may cause back pain and include the following:

> Drop in estrogen levels. Estrogen is a hormone working in harmony with some steroid hormones. Estrogen is produced in the ovaries, and stimulates sexual heat (estrus) and helps the development of secondary female characteristics.

> Lack of exercise, general immobility and calcium deficiencies
> Protein deficiency
> Bone marrow disease
> Deficiency of Vitamin D
> Crushing syndrome
> Hyperthyroidism
> Liver disease
> Increases in phosphate

The presence of Osteoporosis causes deterioration in bones at rates faster than bone formations rates. Osteoporosis may causes increases in phosphate (Phosphoric Acid), and thus over stimulation that affects parathyroid activities, and thereby decrease ?bone resorption? and indirectly causing back pain.
Parathyroid glands are located near the thyroids and Osteoporosis so effects estrogen that it slows bone resorption which is the process where the bones resort or use other mechanics to partially fuse fluids and chemicals, emerging from hormones, such as estrogen.

These fusions even partially acting actually perform actions, but the interruption of that action, causes responses that cause changes in conditions, exemplified by pressure and temperature.

Osteoporosis related actions cause back pain, joint pain, weakness, etc. X-rays and photon absorptiometry tests are sued to identify Osteoporosis. These tests support the viewing of thinning in porous bones, or increase in the spinal curve. Drops in mineral content are also seen by such tests.

A positive diagnosis of Osteoporosis, is immediately followed by medical treatment and nursing interventions. Management of the condition includes supplements, usually Vitamins D & C, Calcium; more specifically Calcium Carbonates-Os-Cal. Estrogen supplements like Estrace or Estradiol are also given. Early interventions will prevent back pain.

Pain including back pain, is treated by NAID-based prescriptions, and may include Dolobid, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Naprosyn and Voltaren.

A good diet is continually indicated while Osteoporosis exists in the body. The doctor will also monitor the musculoskeletal system, since the disorder may cause other problems including back pain. The activities will be monitored and even limited as Osteoporosis can allow fractures and breakage in bones. Complications can be many and though it is quite common, despite much research, surgical interventions do not yet exist in the fight against Osteoporosis.

In the consideration of Osteoporosis, it must not be confused Osteogenic Sarcoma, or Osteosarcoma as it is sometimes known, Gouty arthritis, Osteoarthritis, and other related disease as the symptoms are quite similar. A recent diagnosis of Osteoporosis may benefit existing back pain by attempts at correcting the body posture and training of body mechanics.

Get Taller Through A Good Posture

Monday, June 13th, 2011

There are a lot of tips to grow taller over the Internet. Some of them can be pretty good while others can be quite ridiculous. From my point of view, if someone is trying to gain some height, they must first start with their posture. Slouching and slumping are posture problems which are pretty frequent in our society. A good posture provides many physical and psychological benefits. So knowing how to stand properly can not only make you look taller, it can add to your height permanently as well.

Having a good posture means that your spine and body muscles are all very well developed and very strong. In order to end up having a good posture you must start as a child by not slouching and playing all sorts of games. Swimming for example can help you, or your child develop a straight spinal column with strong joints and strong muscles to support it. If you are passed the growing period, you can still improve these by swimming and by making sure you do some stretching exercises to improve the muscles and spine position. By consciously trying to stand straight and walk tall at all times, you can start to improve your posture and strengthen the relevant muscles to relieve unnecessary stress and compression on your discs. As a result, your height is maximized. Here are a few tips to grow taller through a good posture.

Tips To Grow Taller Through A Good Posture

1. Here’s a little exercise to improver your posture. Lean against a wall with your head, shoulder blades, bottom and heels in contact with the wall. Now, use your muscles to try and press the back of your neck, waist and knees against the wall. You wont be able to touch the wall so just try and go as close as possible. Have around 10 repetitions each lasting for 10 seconds or so.

2. Rest one foot on a box or a lower chair and stand like that for set periods of time for each leg. Having one leg higher than the other straightens the small of the back and relieves a swayback tendency.

3. There are also several tips to grow taller when sleeping. The best position to sleep is on a flat bed with a pillow supporting your neck and one larger pillow supporting your knees. This balances you so that your back muscles lengthen and relax better. Another position would be on your side, with your hips and knees bent. You should place a pillow between your knees to prevent the twisting of your back.

These tips to grow taller through a good posture is just the top of the iceberg. There are loads of tips to grow taller which include proper diets, stretching exercises and even fun activities like swimming and volleyball.

And high intensity stretching exercises produce growth hormone which will improve your chance to grow taller. Go to swimming pool as a minimum twice a week and swim for about an hour. But don’t slack! The workouts must be maximally intense to increase the likelihood of increasing height.

Besides swimming you have to beyond doubt practice a number of particular stretching training. One thing you have to consider is to pertain maximum intensity when performing these aerobics. Keep in mind – the more intensity you apply, the more is the likelihood of your organism producing human growth hormone accordingly making you grow taller. Some of these exercises are toe touching, bridges, hanging and others. Before doing these exercises be sure to be warmed up so you evade injuries. Some of stretching exercises can be harmful when performed inaccurately.

Tips To Make You Look Taller
I would highly recommend choosing suitable clothing that would make you look taller. For instance, you should use vertical stripes and elements in clothes and wear clothes that fit you. Avoid looking baggy. You might also want to try higher heels for shoes if you are a woman or change your hairdo or even put on a taller head wear. You might also want to improve your posture. If you are stooping you will naturally look shorter. A correct posture looks great and also makes you appear taller. The right posture is shoulders back, chest outwards and head looking straight.
